Founded on a handshake deal in 1996, Liner LLP has built one of the nation's most successful boutique law firms by sticking to a simple and straightforward strategy: attract lawyers with practices that add to our firm's strengths of reputation, practice expertise, geographic location, and culture. We have been disciplined in building four practice areas crucial to our firm and where we have market-leading practices:  litigation, real estate, insurance recovery and business transactions.

The firm has invested in each of these practice areas by recruiting lawyers that we know personally and professionally from AmLaw 100 firms, many of whom have also earned national recognition from Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers of America and Super Lawyers.  Our top 25 clients constitute 40% of our revenues, while no single client represents more than  5% of the overall total. A small representative list of our clients includes: Lionsgate Entertainment, Hilton Hotels, Dole Food Company, Sempra Energy, California State Teachers Retirement System, The City of Los Angeles, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Comerica Bank, White Wave Foods, CB Richard Ellis, Atlas Capital Group, Los Angeles Unified School District, and Clarion Partners. 

Culturally, we have a unique perspective and structure that emphasizes obtaining results for our clients while recognizing that the cost to get desired results also matters. Liner avoids the typical leverage billing model, where creating more work becomes the goal.  By maintaining low overhead costs and a lower ratio of associates to partners, we can focus on obtaining results in the most efficient manner possible for our clients. Because alternative fee arrangements play to our strengths by rewarding results over time, we prefer to partner with our clients to create flexibility and predictability in their legal spending. We also look to share in the risks and rewards with our clients by making financial investments in new business ventures, primarily in the areas of entertainment & media, real estate and parking.  These partnering and risk-sharing investments continue our strategy of trying to align our interests with our clients and further act to distinguish us from our competitors.
