Michael Gehrt is a partner in Liner's Insurance Recovery Group. Michael focuses on representing policyholders in a variety of complex insurance coverage matters, including coverage advice, pre-litigation disputes, international arbitrations, and coverage litigation.
Michael has been instrumental in collecting hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of insurance policyholders and is experienced in a wide range of matters, including insurance coverage for advertising liabilities; business interruption losses; directors and officers liability; errors and omissions and professional liability; fire, flood, and other natural disaster losses; marine insurance claims; property damage claims; rescission lawsuits; and subrogation claims. He has also represented clients in insurance broker disputes and with general business litigation and contract disputes.
Michael regularly speaks and writes on insurance law issues. He is also an editor and co-author of the New Appleman Sports and Entertainment Insurance Law & Practice Guide (LexisNexis, 2016), a book that addresses insurance law issues facing policyholders in the sports and entertainment industries.
Prior to joining Liner, Michael was a partner at Dickstein Shapiro LLP and a complex commercial litigation and insurance recovery associate at Heller Ehrman LLP. During law school, he worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Marilyn Hall Patel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Michael also worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Dickran Tevrizian of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
